Everyone goes through a point in their late teens and twenties when they question things (Charlie Trotter)
It’s something that, according to Charlie Trotter, happens in everyone’s life: the questioning phase that occurs when people are in their late teens and twenties.
This is a phase when everyone is discovering who they are, and who they are not: it is as delightful as it is stressful. There are outside pressures from family members and friends- but Charlie Trotter did not succumb to these pressures.
What I found highly inspirational about Trotter’s story is that he claims he had no agenda after graduating from college and yet he became so successful. I think his attitude, that moving slowly allows for maximum exploration of options and a true in-depth understanding of subjects, is profound. In his Roadtrip Nation story, he goes on to assure the reader that it is okay to pursue dreams- not only is it okay to pursue them, but even if the dreams turn out to be disasters it is okay.
I feel like this is such an important take-away of Charlie Trotter’s story, because in the end there is no such thing as failing in your twenties. It is a time for exploration, for hiccups, for learning...if one path doesn’t feel right, there will be others.
