I think the one thing that resonated with me about Randy Komisar’s entry in Roadtrip Nation was that he suggested stepping out of your “everyday experience”. I completely agree with this; though it’s been years since I truly stepped out of my everyday experience, I understand the importance of mixing things up. Great inspiration can come from doing different things, or doing things differently.
I also found it surprising that Randy said that no ultimate goal is necessary. I suppose, being a college senior, I have had the primary goal pretty much all my life of finishing school and beginning a career. To think that this goal is not necessary goes against what I’ve been thinking all these years! Perhaps no ultimate goal is necessary, but I do believe that people should set goals to propel themselves in the right direction and to measure themselves against.
